workshop groupLast Friday, July 26th lighting professional Leni Schwendinger and the 82nd Street Partnership led an illuminating walk along Roosevelt Avenue from 82nd Street to 90th Street to discover the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in one of Queens’ most vibrant commercial districts. This NightSeeing™ tour – an educational and community enrichment program which aims to introduce the public to lighting theory by bringing awareness to the complex role of light within our urban environments – was the first in Queens and brought together more than 50 people from all over NYC. Community members and visitors alike were able to explore existing lighting conditions and learn innovative ways for improved lighting. The following day a Light Planning Workshop was held, where a group of community members participated in visioning exercises and were able to discuss their ideas for a brighter and revitalized neighborhood.
