If great things are built with time, Devisons Jewelers already made that mark. In 1988, Glen Mirchandani and his brother chose this location on 82nd Street to open their jewelry store, even though they knew very little about this specific type of business. Glen was in his 20s. He had inherited the business instinct and he loved jewels, as probably most people from his culture. Encouraged by a knowledgeable friend who supported them, and prepared with their family’s business background, they first rented the store where they are still located today.
Glen gives his customers the credit to his business’ success; “if you respect them and treat them well, they will keep coming back and they will send more people. They will make you stay in business for a long time,” he states. Glen is originally from India, but he speaks a perfect Spanish, which he learned from his customers and employees. His clientele is constant and even when they have moved away, no matter how far, they keep coming back because of the quality, and the trust they have built along the years.
Gold is still the all time favorite and watches seem to be the trend. Glen knows that his community likes good prices and he loves having sales for them. As a small business owner, he wishes to see more small businesses coming into the neighborhood. He is convinced that good service and consistency in prices and quality are all they need to succeed. He believes in the potential of this corridor as an ideal area for small merchants.
For the future of his store, Glen hopes to expand and grow by eventually making his space larger. In the meantime, he and his staff welcome every customer with a smile, knowledge and only the best items.

El oro es aún el favorito entre la gente y los relojes parecen tener la mayor popularidad. Glen sabe que a su comunidad le gustan los buenos precios y le encanta tener ofertas para ellos. Como dueño de un pequeño negocio le gustaría ver a muchos otros pequeños negocios mudarse al barrio.
