Advocacy & Planning
The 82nd Street Partnership works closely with the community and partners in city government to help plan, design and develop the neighborhood’s public spaces. Physical improvements such as bicycle parking, street trees, and benches have come to 82nd Street as a result of our advocacy. The Partnership is leading an effort to enhance the neighborhood’s outdoor lighting, and to revitalize Dunningham Triangle.
Marketing & Events
Spreading the word on all the exciting things happening on 82nd Street is a big part of our job. We write and distribute the e-publication 82nd Street News, host the annual cultural event, Viva La Comida, and connect with area shoppers, residents and workers through Twitter and Facebook.
Streetscape Beautification
To enhance the district’s look and feel, the 82nd Street Partnership’s beautification program includes seasonal light pole banner installations, horticulture and tree care, and holiday lighting. The Partnership also installs and maintains custom litter receptacles.
Storefront Improvement Program
The 82nd Street Partnership provides technical assistance to property owners and merchants who wish to upgrade their storefronts. Our goal is to help ensure that all storefront improvements–including signage, windows and awnings–meet your business needs and comply with the Jackson Heights Historic District rules and guidelines. Please contact us to discuss your storefront improvement.
Sanitation & Graffiti Removal
The 82nd Street Partnership aims to keep the district clean and graffiti-free. Two full-time, uniformed Clean Ambassadors sweep sidewalk litter, empty garbage receptacles, remove stickers and flyers from lamp posts, and pressure-wash sidewalk corners. Our crew, contracted through Block by Block, is in the district seven days per week, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
